Accountant of the Year

An award to recognise the best young accountant in the Greater Manchester region. Demonstrate how you are technically and commercially the best young accountant within the Greater Manchester region. Describe your role and functional area of expertise within your organisation. From an external perspective, describe how you serve your clients’ requirements through the development of pragmatic and commercial solutions to meet your clients’ business needs; and how you have developed your own personal eminence within the Greater Manchester professional community.

Demonstrate how you are technically and commercially the best young accountant within the Greater Manchester region. Describe your role and functional area of expertise within your organisation. From an external perspective, describe how you serve your client requirements through the development of pragmatic and commercial solutions to meet your client’s business needs; and how you have developed your own personal eminence within the Greater Manchester professional community.

The judges are looking for a well rounded individual who is committed to their own personal and professional development, can demonstrate leadership skills, financial contribution to their organisation and commercial awareness.

Applicants should provide evidence in respect of the following where they are applicable (noting that this acts as a guide and answers should not be limited by it):

  • Revenue managed over the last twelve months (1 September 2015 – 16 November 2016), providing details relating to your specific contribution for each key project. If any projects / client work stream is recurring, explain your role on the engagement and how you have contributed to the success and development of the relationship
  • Involvement in any significant projects during the past 12 months, highlighting you personal involvement and contribution to their success
  • Any other relevant KPIs, including, but not limited to recovery rates, contribution to efficiencies, utilisation rates etc.
  • Innovative solutions that you have personally applied to overcome difficult problems
  • How your actions directly impact the client and/or have added value to the client’s experience
  • Please include any examples of client leadership and any contribution to your Firm’s talent agenda including size of your team and people managed by you/reporting to you
  • Given the current challenging market conditions, describe how you as an individual or on behalf of your firm have developed a presence in your area of expertise / or developed an additional area of expertise to follow a market opportunity
  • Where do you see yourself in 5 years and what plans have you put in place to achieve your goals
  • How have you differentiated yourself from your peer group
